This past week I visited Camp Shriver, a summer camp for people with intellectual disabilities. Camp Shriver, operating since 1962, was the seed that eventual spawned the Special Olympics.

I was there to provide “kickball expertise”. Apparently kickball is catching on like wildfire among these kinds of camps, due to the accessiblity and fun of kickball.

Anyway, I had the best time. Playing kickball (and other sports) with these kids was a blast. DCKickball will be very much involved with Camp Shriver moving forward, particularly in 2007 when their next summer camp season opens.
