Week 3 - DCK Poker Results posted by crabasa on October 7th

1st Place – Evan Uhl Team: Kickbrawlers
2nd Place – Anthony Giunta Team: Kickbrawlers

In a shocking turn of events, Kickbrawlers monopolized the top 2 spots at the DCK Presidents apartment last night, for the third week in a row.

Maybe youll be the first to stop this broken record next week, when we sit down to play at division President Matt Mullins house Thursday night. Simply e-mail dckickballpoker@hotmail.com if youre interested in the details.

Mid-Season Party @ McFaddens posted by crabasa on October 6th

Yes! We use the term mid-season rather loosely, but its time to celebrate the fall season with another open bar event at McFaddens! Last seasons party drew over 200 DCKers and raised lots of money for our charity, LAYC (the Latin American Youth Center). And this time, without buxom beauties and sweaty beefcakes strutting across the bar, auctioning themselves for charity, there will be fewer distractions between you and the bartender.

So, heres what you need to know.

Saturday, October 15th
McFaddens Restaurant and Saloon
2401 Pennsylvania Ave., N.W., Washington, DC

From 8pm – 11pm, there will be an OPEN BAR that includes both rail drinks and domestic bottles.

Cost to league members: $10
Cost to Guests: $20

Bring as many guests as you like. And if you (or your friends) need to pass on the open bar, you can elect to buy drinks one by one, as dictated by your thirst.

This promises to be a great night to see your fellow DCKers, sans sweat-stained jerseys, and support a great charity!

In Memory of Sarah Rosen posted by crabasa on October 5th

I learned over this past weekend that Sarah Rosen (Potomac Pirates) was killed in an automobile accident on Friday, September 30. My heart goes out to her friends, family, and teammates. This is a sad time for all of us. Below is a note from her friend and colleague, Peter Cressy:

In accordance with the traditions of her faith services and burial were held in New York City this morning. Because Sarah had so many friends and colleagues here in Washington we will hold a simple Memorial Service for her here at the DISCUS Offices on Thursday morning at 11:00am (1250 Eye Street NW, Washington, DC). You are welcome to join us to celebrate Sarahs life. She was a gracious and joyful colleague, and she will be greatly missed. Notes of condolence can be sent to Sam and Edna Rosen, her parents, at Apartment 17D, 10 Waterside Plaza, New York, NY 10010. Contributions in her name can be made to:

Coaching for College

or

Dress for Success Washington D.C.

Both are local charities in which Sarah was active. For further information please feel free to call the DISCUS front office at 202-682-8870.
