Photos! posted by crabasa on April 30th

Talk about quick turnaround, pictures from last night are up! Much love to the incomperable Margaret Allen for her shutterfly skills.

Of course, if you took pictures, and would like to share, email them (or a link) to me!

One of our current paid and registered teammates has to drop out because of work commitments. If you want to sign up, do me a favor and e-mail me (and dont pay via PayPal yet) and you can pay her directly – the league doesnt allow refunds, but has given this the green light.

Thanks,
Nick

4/25 update posted by crabasa on April 25th

Hi everyone – lots of news this week. I think youve gotten much of it directly from the league already, but I am passing it on:

1. I still need a volunteer or two for refs. Basically, every week we need to provide a ref for a game preceding ours when we play at 7:15, or after the game if we play at 6:30. And the league would like those who end up reffing to come to the clinic this Wednesday (45 minutes, followed by drinks if you like). I will be attending the clinic, but would love to have a fellow green team volunteer or two join me, or at least to be open to reffing a game here or there.

2. There is a pre-season party Friday night from 7 to 11 at Tom Toms. Drinks are free for all DC Kickball paid players, and you can bring a guest for $10 (which covers their drinks). I will be there for at least a good part of the night, and hope to see lots of you there.

3. The league is also participating in a community clean-up of the park on Saturday. I wont be able to attend, but if youd like to go, its from 10 to 2.

4. Our first game is next week, Monday at 7:15. Please drop me an e-mail confirming whether youre planning on playing or not. The rest of the schedule is available at: http://dckickball.org/wp-content/dckickballschedule.pdf

5. Our t-shirts have arrived and will be undergoing some final design enhancements this week. They may be available Friday night at Tom Toms, but I think Monday at the game is more likely.

6. Finally, we do still have room for a few more players. If you do know someone who wants to play, tell them to sign up for Green Team at dckickball.org.

Looking forward to seeing you Friday night or Monday night!

The Virgin Blog posted by crabasa on April 22nd

To all of the Hotties out there, here is our first attempt at blogging.
The opportunity to ref is still out there! If you are interested AT ALL, please let me know. Secondly, it has been brought to my attention that other teams have engaged in recess talk in their efforts to intimidate our team. Do what you must to respond to the nonsense

League party on Apr 29th, so shine those party shoes.
We will be having a team party soon enough (The details will go out in an email)

2005 Schedule Released! posted by crabasa on April 18th

DCKickball 2005 schedule (pdf)

A few notes:

  • The bold and underlined teams are responsible for collecting the equipment after the late games are completed and then bringing/setting up the equipment prior to their early game the next week (shown by the yellow highlight).
  • Every team plays on at least 4 Mondays and on at least 4 Wednesdays.
  • Every team has bag duty at least twice, but never more than 3 times.
  • Every team plays at least 4 6:30 games and at least 3 7:15 games (only 2 play only 3 7:15 games; everyone else plays between 4 and 6 games).
  • No team plays another team more than once.

All of this equity and fairness brought to you by our Referee Chair, David Fischer. Thanks!

T-Minus 19 Days posted by crabasa on April 13th

19 days until DCKickball players step on to our field for the first time. Very cool. So far, we have 343 paid players. That’s pretty excellent amazing. I’m hoping we max out as 400, since the extra registration fees ($2850) would drop straight into the party fund account.

Speaking of party funds. Here’s the scoop on the Pre-Season Party:

Where: Tom Tom
When: Friday, April 29th

The details are still being worked out. Our generous sponsors will be helping us out with some free/discounted kegs. The festivities will likely begin in the evening, so we’ll probably have the run of the bar for majority of our time there. I’d count on a guest list (registered and paid players). Everyone will be allowed to email in one (1) guest they’d like to bring.

Our t-shirts have been ordered. Hopefully they will be here sooner rather than later. Team captains will be able to pick them up from me prior to the start of the season, or I’ll just bring the boxes to the first week of games.
