All 5 divisions of DCKickball will be hosting their End-of-Season parties on Saturday, July 28th. It’s a DCKickball Block Party! Here’s the line-up:

• Adams Morgan @ Tom Tom
• Columbia @ Bourbon
• Constitution/District @ 18th and Red
• Capital @ Grand Central

The exact details for each of these parties are still being worked out, but you know what to expect: a nominal cover charge for at least 3 hours of open bar. This is going to be an epic night of fun in Adams Morgan, so mark your calendars!

Sunday, July 22nd, 1 pm to 7 pm

Starting at 1 p.m. at the Ugly Mug and going until 7 p.m., the crawl includes Capitol Hill favorites Hawk ‘n’ Dove, Capitol Lounge, 18th Amendment, Finn mac Cool’s, Tune Inn and the Pour House. Enjoy $2 Bud/ Bud Light and $4 Stella Artois at each bar.

At 4 pm Scythian, DC’s best irish rockers will put on a free show for all bar crawlers at Finn mac Cools. This is their DC CD release show and their only summer show in DC! At 5pm we’ll turn on the DC United vs. Red Bulls game and have a game watching party at Finn Mac Cools. During half time we’ll do giveaways (signed gear, tickets and more!) then Scythian plays again.

I will try to do a more detailed write-up of the Summer Flip-Cup Tourney another time, but here’s the recap:

We had 16 teams, which broke down into 4 brackets:

• Adams Morgan (winner: Unbridled Arrogance)
• Columbia/District (winner: BVRDROS)
• Constitution (winner: DC Dawgs)
• Capital (winner: Sloppy Seconds)

Each bracket was double-elimination and best-of-5. Thanks to Pan and Libby (of UA) for helping me get the loser’s brackets drawn correctly. The final four (between the bracket winners) was single elimination and best-of-7. The final game matched-up BVRDROS (the super-team of Bob Vance Refrigeration and I Don’t Roll on Shabbos) against the juggernaut of Matt Mullin’s Unbridled Arrogance.

Unbridled Arrogance may have the Tourney, but everyone who was there (and getting housed) was a winner in my book!

When: Saturday, July 14th at noon
Where: McFadden’s.

That’s right, we’re going to McFadden’s, the location of last Fall’s ridiculous Flip-Cup blow-out between Adams Morgan and Capital (which Adams Morgan won, btw). This year teams from Adams Morgan, Constitution, District and Columbia will be duking it out!

Rules: this is an 8-person, best-of-5, double elimination tournament. What’s that mean? Teams are made up of 8 people (duh). Games are best of 5 (duh, again). Lose one best-of-5 round, you’re still in the tournament, but lose two rounds and you’re out. A flip cup team can theoretically lose one round, but still end up winning the whole shebang. Sweetness.

To sign up for the tournament, please email your captains. We’ll collect flip cup rosters from captains later this week so please let them know by COB Wed if you want to play in the tournament.
